What is MEGABurst?

MEGABurst enables you to experience faster connection speeds while you are downloading and uploading large files to the Internet.
Download speed bursts up to 20Mbps for the first 5MB of a typical file.

MEGABurst leverages an additional capacity that is already built into Advanced Stream's advanced network.

How long does the MEGABurst burst last?
MEGABurst bursts the first 5MB of a download/upload.

Will MEGABurst work with all customers' modems?
Advanced Stream MEGABurst technology is compatible with DOCSIS 1.1 cable modems.

Will MEGABurst increase my monthly rate?
No; MEGABurst is FREE to all 10Mbps & 15Mbps Advanced Stream High-Speed Internet subscribers.

What happens after the MEGABurst burst?
Once the MEGABurst burst is complete, your download will continue at your normal provisioned speed of up to 10Mbps or 15Mbps.

What do I need to do to get MEGABurst?
Most people will need to do nothing. MEGABurst has already been deployed in your area. If you suspect that you are not getting MEGABurst, simply reset your modem by unplugging it for 60 seconds and plugging it back in. If you’re still not getting the speeds, give us a call.

Is MEGABurst available with the 3 Mbps service?
Initially, the rollout of Advanced Stream's MEGABurst technology will focus on our 10Mbps and 15Mbps speed services, but not the 3 Mbps service.

How will customers know that they have experienced the MEGABurst speed enhancement?
Customers should notice an initial increase in speed when they are downloading and uploading large files such as software, games, music, and photos.

   
Speeds may vary based on customer equipment. Download speed bursts up to 20Mbps for the first 5MB of a typical file. In order to use MEGABurst, must have a DOCSIS 1.1 or higher CableLabs certified modem that includes 1.1 compliant firmware. Routers may affect performance depending on model and type.
